Petra
The wonders of the modern and ancient world have always intrigued me. I wanted to do my essay over one that I have yet to hear of but still very interesting, and Petra fit that criteria.
Petra is located in Jordan behind an almost impenetrable barrier of mountains, displaying scenes that make it the one of the most beautiful and imposing ancient sites that is still around today.
More monuments and structures become visible to the visitor once the ancient city gradually unfolds, one monument and structure leading to the next for kilometer after kilometer. The size and stature of the city along with the quality of beautifully carved facades is staggering.
Petra has always been breathtaking, and will never to be forgotten. It flourished well over 400 years around the time of Rome and Christ, until it was occupied by the Roman legions of the Emperor Trajan in 106 AD.
The Petra basin has over a whopping 800 solitary monuments, including buildings, tombs, temples, arched gateways, and even baths, that were mostly carved from the kaleidoscopic sandstone by its inhabitants. You observe Petra as it was seen first when discovered in 1812 after being lost by the 16th century for almost 300 years!

Mission Trip
This spring break was different than I was planning it to be. I was planning to just do nothing and lay around all day, but actually I spent the whole week in the third ward in Houston. I went with my friends and other volunteers from his church. It wasn’t all fun and games, though I’m not saying we didn’t have a fun time. We painted a lady’s house, fixed her roof, did a bunch of yard work for the community, and learned about the gospel. We stayed in a church gym for half of the week, the other part of the week we spent the night in a nice married couples house. The mission trip influenced me and made me take more things for granted. Once you are used to having food on the table three times a day , and a nice house in a nice neighborhood, it really shocks you to see how its like in the ghetto.
My Normal Spring Break
This spring break I have absolutely nothing planned. I hope to just lay around and just relax. Probably just end up shooting a little hoops with my friends and nothing really besides that alone. I’m not really looking forward to spring break except for the part that I get to miss a week of school. Anyway I will probably have a lot of fun just getting a lot of sleep.
Victory
With the score tied 70-70,
The clock ticking down 10, 9, 8,
Dribbling the ball up and down,
I’m thinking to myself,
Should I pass?
Or should I shoot?
The defender gave me some space,
So I thought I would shoot,
I rose up with the ball,
While he was all up in my face,
The ball went up,
And came down with a swish,
My teammates surround me,
As the crowd cheers with glee,
I walk off the court,
With a smile on my face,
Knowing that we won,
72-70.

Ways to Make a Difference
We can all make a difference in the world that we live in. Some people can make a difference others can’t. Like Martin Luther King Jr. made a difference by making blacks have equal rights as white people do, and how Abraham Lincoln put an end to slavery. That’s just some of the examples of people who had made a difference. Here’s a list of some of the things I think that can make difference in the world.
- Recycle. Recycling can make a big difference because if you recycle things such as plastics, aluminum, and old batteries or CDs. We could turn something old into a new product.
- Be green. Being green means a lot of different things such as don’t leave a light on in the house when you are not home. And take showers instead of baths so you won’t waste as much water.
- Stop bullying. Put a stop to bullying, if you see somebody being picked on or anything like that you don’t just stand there you go and tell a teacher.
Those are just some of the ways you can make a difference in the world. So go out there and make a difference!
Christmas at my Uncle’s House
This Christmas I went to my Uncles house. And he just happens to be rich, but that doesn’t matter, okay maybe it does. But anyway we had a good time just visiting with the family, and opening presents and what not. My Aunt Leslie cooked ham and other foods that I don’t know the name of. Then we just chilled and watched the Dallas Cowboys game. They lost of course; it wasn’t that much of a disappointment. After that we took a seat on the floor to open presents I got Dallas Maverick tickets and my sister got an old DS game. Then we told everybody good bye and went home, and it turned out to be a very good Christmas for all of us.
